Berry Medical Centre is running COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics. Online bookings are open for existing patients via the HotDoc app.
New patients will need to call the practice to book in to one of our Covid-19 vaccination clinics.
The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) have reviewed their advice on the AstraZeneca vaccine. They have recommended that Pfizer is the preferred vaccine for people under 60 years. This does not change who is currently eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine, but it means if you are under 60 it is preferred you get the Pfizer.
ATAGI have made this recommendation because of new evidence that shows the risk of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, (which is a very rare blood clotting syndrome) in the 50-59 age group is higher than initially thought.
If you have had your first AstraZeneca vaccine without any serious side effects, it is recommended you receive your 2nd dose as planned. But if you have not had your 1st dose yet – and you are aged under 60, it is advised the Pfizer is your recommended vaccine, and not to have the AstraZeneca.
We are not sure when Berry Medical Centre will be receiving the Pfizer vaccine at this stage but as soon as we know, we will announce it on our website and facebook page.
To see if you are eligible for Covid-19 vaccination please use the eligibility checker.
New Patients and visitors to our practice for Covid-19 immunisation will need to bring a current Health Summary from your regular GP.
If you have a history of anaphylaxis please advise our staff before your appointment.
Flu Vaccines are also available. It is recommended there be 7 days between a dose of Covid-19 vaccination and the Flu vaccine. Please call the practice on 02 4464 1577 to arrange your Flu vaccine appointment.
